Top YouTube Channels for Pilots in Training

Youtube has been an absolute gold mine for me during my pilot training and my airline job where learning is a continuous process.

Here are a list of channels that have helped me at various stages of my journey.

1. Iron Birds

Iron Birds have over 140 videos to help you on various topics and are especially good for the ATPL exams. These CBT style videos are very clear and concise, and are an excellent addition to the ATPL theory books, especially for visual learners like myself. Very useful from PPL onwards.

They haven’t published a new video in over a year, however the information is very valid.

2. Airplane Tech Talk

Also very relevant for ATPL subjects, and contains a lot of practical, relevant technical knowledge. These videos are also delivered as a CBT style.

3. Pilot Climb

Great videos from an actual airline pilot. Very relevant to commercial operations and advanced flight training. There are videos relevant to Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

4. A320 Mentor Channel

Massive library of A320 related videos covered in a presentation and podcast format. Many require an inexpensive channel membership to watch. New videos are released regularly.

5. Airbus ‘Whats it doing now?’

Experienced Airbus Line Training Captain talks a lot about systems, both technical and practical techniques to flying the Airbus A320.

6. CaptainSQ

Airbus A320 focused technical channel. It was very helpful during the early days of my type rating, because Captain SQ explains the technical aspects of the A320 aircraft very well.

7. Mentour Pilot

Mentour Pilot has many top-notch videos about real accident case studies and gives you a lot of practical pilot advice by a real airline pilot. It’s very useful to watch cases involving the aircraft you fly or plan to fly.

8. 1st Step Prep

Another airline focused channel with emphasis on A320 and B737 family of aircraft. Joe Munoz is an excellent instructor, and his advice on landing techniques in his videos have helped me greatly. He gives plenty of practical, technical and career advice.

There are many other helpful videos I have watched from many other channels. To start, I suggest you subscribe to all of the channels I’ve listed. I’m sure you’ll greatly benefit, if you haven’t already checked them out already.
